Our History
Founding (2013–2015)
Carthage Classical Academy began in 2013 as an initiative led by a group of expatriate families, primarily American nationals living in Tunis, who shared a common vision: to provide their children with a classical American education rooted in strong intellectual foundations, character development, and the cultivation of moral leadership. From the outset, this vision was deliberately woven together with an emphasis on Arabic and French, reflecting the Tunisian context and ensuring that students would grow with a genuine ability to integrate within and develop a love for the local culture and community.
To formalize this vision, the founding families established a non-profit association, the Carthage Classical Educational Association (CCEA). The association received official registration approval from the Tunisian Ministry of Education for the 2014/2015 school year, marking the formal beginning of Carthage Classical Academy’s journey as an educational institution.
Formalization (2016–2019)
As Carthage Classical Academy continued to grow, it became clear that the non-profit association structure could no longer support the school’s expanding needs. Following the recommendation of the Ministry of Education, the school transitioned its legal form in 2017, becoming Carthage Classical Academy (SARL) — a change that provided the institutional footing needed to sustain its growth.
This new chapter took root at the school’s second campus on Nahj Tamiya in El Menzah 4, a calm, established neighborhood with a long history of welcoming expatriate families. The location offered wide, comfortable spaces where students could grow and learn at ease, setting the stage for the school’s future.
Philosophy of Education
At CCA, we believe a good education does more than fill a transcript. It prepares students to live well, think clearly, and care for the world around them. We see every student as capable of real growth, and every teacher as a guide who models the curiosity and discipline they hope to instill. Learning here isn’t passive; it’s a shared process that builds strong communicators, critical thinkers, and moral leaders.
Our curriculum, teaching, and community all work toward the same goal: an education that shapes the whole person, not just the mind.
